Daniel 10:7

“I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; the men with me did not see it; but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves.”  Daniel 10:7

God’s response to Daniel was personal.  During the Daniel fast trust the Lord to personally speak to you, to reveal Himself to you, and to answer your prayers.

Don’t be afraid of God’s presence in your life during this time.  Don’t run and hide from God.  He already knows everything about you and what is to come in your life.

God wants to give you a vision so that you do not perish without one.  It will be a vision that is only for you and your life.  No one else will see the same vision from God because we are each uniquely designed for a wonderfully unique purpose in the Lord.

Daniel 10:4-6

“…as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris, I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of finest gold around his waist.  His body was like chrysolite, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.”  Daniel 10:4-6

Daniel received the answer to his prayers through the angel Gabriel.  As New Testament believers we receive answers to prayer through the Lord Jesus Christ!  The key in these verses is that Daniel LOOKED UP!  We too lift up our eyes unto the hills from where our help comes.  The Lord is seated in the highest place and He will answer from His position of authority and sovereignty.  So, today, look up and know that your redemption is drawing near.

Daniel 10:3

“I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched by lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.”

Much discussion is made about what foods are allowed or not allowed on the 21 Day Daniel Fast.  Everyone agrees, based on the above verse, that fruits, vegetables, and water are the main components of this type of fast.  All also agree meat and meat products are not to be eatern.  From this point opinions vary.  Some say whole grains are acceptable, although no yeast products are included.  Sweets and dairy are not to be eaten.

Questions and confusion abound about details relating to the food.  However, as with any fast, the purpose is to deny the flesh and focus on the Lord through prayer.  It is always best to determine before the fast begins what foods you will and will not eat.  Such a decision eliminates the temptation that comes during the fast.

A 21 Day Daniel Fast is not a health food diet!  It is a time to seek the Lord with all your heart.  Be free from legalism and concentrate on the wonderful blessings of communion with God!

Daniel 10:1-2

“In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a revelation was given to Daniel (who was called Belteshazza).  Its message was true and it concerned a great war.  The understanding of the message came to him in a vision.  At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks.”

Daniel began his three week fast because of a revelation and vision given to him by the Lord about things to come.

In our world we too are hearing many frightful and disturbing things about the future.  Such news can cause us to mourn or be discouraged.  If you are fearful about the future, then the Daniel fast is for you.  By going to the Lord with your concerns of things to come  you will find strength, peace, and hope for the future.  God’s plans for you are good!
